Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has launched a special flower waste collection drive as part of the Swachh Pandal Competition to ensure scientific disposal of floral offerings generated at Durga Puja pandals and temples.Ten dedicated vehicles have been deployed to collect flowers, bel leaves and other biodegradable offerings, which will be processed into compost instead of being dumped in open spaces or water bodies. East Singhbhum DC Rajiv Ranjan flagged off the vehicles on Friday, while the drive became operational on Saturday.JNAC officials said all 87 puja pandals under its jurisdiction have been GPS-tagged for efficient collection, with each vehicle covering multiple pandals. Other puja waste, including bhog containers, leaf plates and artificial garlands, will be collected separately and disposed of at designated sites near immersion ghats.JNAC Municipal Commissioner Yogendra Prasad said, “We urge puja committees to segregate floral waste and hand it over to the collection vehicles. The initiative would help ensure cleaner pandals and promote eco-friendly waste management during the festive season.”Caption: East Singhbhum DC Rajiv Ranjan flags off vehicles deployed for the flower waste collection drive in Jamshedpur.
