Srinagar, Oct 14: The J&K government on Wednesday placed Parvaz Abdullah, General Manager (Purchases and Stores) of the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC), under suspension pending an inquiry into alleged lapses in the maintenance of tendering and procurement records related to Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). The action followed multiple Rising Kashmir reports highlighting irregularities in the records.
According to government order no. 91-JK(TR) of 2026, issued by the Transport Department, Parvaz Abdullah, General Manager (Purchases and Stores) JKRTC’s suspension will remain in force pending an inquiry into the alleged misconduct and dereliction of duty.
The order, issued by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Transport Department, R Alice Vaz, stated that the charge of Purchases and Stores had already been withdrawn from Abdullah through a separate order dated October 8, 2026, in view of the lapses observed in the maintenance of tendering and procurement records relating to DEF.
The government order noted that records concerning the tendering and procurement process were reportedly not maintained in a systematic and readily traceable manner, raising serious concerns about the discharge of official duties, accountability and the proper maintenance and custody of official records.
Taking serious note of the matter, the competent authority decided to initiate formal departmental proceedings to ascertain the facts, fix responsibility and examine the role of the officials concerned.
“Pending an enquiry into the alleged misconduct and dereliction of duties,” Abdullah has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, the order stated.
During the suspension period, he will remain attached to the office of the Managing Director, JKRTC, until further orders.
On October 8, Rising Kashmir reported that JKRTC had withdrawn the charge of its General Manager (Purchases & Stores) and Manager (Purchases & Stores), Srinagar, following observations regarding the maintenance and traceability of records related to the tendering and procurement of DEF.
The charge of Purchases & Stores held by General Manager P&S JKRTC Parvaz Abdullah was withdrawn with immediate effect. The corporation had also withdrawn the charge of Manager (P&S), JKRTC Srinagar held by Siraj.
Despite the actions taken by the government, the cancellation and issuance of fresh tender is still pending from the MD JKRTC’s end.
