Berhampore: Police arrested a youth from Jharkhand on Tuesday evening for allegedly sharing an objectionable social media post targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The arrest was made at Chandpurbazar under Samsherganj police station following a complaint by a local BJP supporter.The accused was identified as Mostafijur Rahaman, alias Saddam, a resident of Sakarghat under Pakur police station in Jharkhand, which borders Murshidabad. Police seized a mobile phone allegedly used to upload the offensive post.The complainant alleged that the post hurt Hindu religious sentiments and showed disrespect towards Lord Shiva.The Jangipur police district produced the accused before the Jangipur ACJM court, seeking five days of police remand for investigation. The court granted three days of remand.
