Ganderbal, Oct 4: Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee chairman Shah Fayaz has urged the government to expedite the resolution of long-pending issues concerning employees, including the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), recruitment rules, pay anomalies and promotions.
Addressing a press conference, JKECC Chairman Shah Fayaz said the committee, representing employees from over 40 departments, had recently discussed various concerns with district-level representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Association.
He said employees had been waiting for progress on several issues and expressed hope that the elected government would initiate a process to address their concerns.
Fayaz called for extending OPS-related benefits to employees appointed before 2010 but regularised after the implementation of the New Pension Scheme, including contractual teachers, Rehbar-e-Taleem employees and workers in other departments.
He also referred to ongoing protests by different employee groups, including NHM workers, vocational trainers and tourism corporation employees, daily wagers said the employees’ body preferred dialogue and smooth functioning of departments.
However, he said continued delay in addressing genuine concerns could leave employees with no option but to consider further action.
The committee also raised concerns over pending reports of committees constituted in previous years to examine employee issues, besides highlighting matters related to Panchayat Account Assistants, Junior Engineers and vocational trainers.
Fayaz welcomed the government’s resolution on the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), while urging that the matter be taken up with the Centre for its effective implementation in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also sought greater clarity and accuracy in vacancy data, particularly in the education sector, and called for a stronger mechanism to ensure that employee-related matters are addressed within a defined timeframe.
