Srinagar, Oct 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Wednesday withdrew the condition requiring students to secure at least 20 per cent marks in a subject to become eligible for re-evaluation of their answer scripts.
According to a notification issued by Director Academics Dr Parveen Singh, the restriction has been removed through a partial modification of the earlier notification dated May 29, 2006.
The previous provision allowed re-evaluation only in subjects in which a candidate had secured 20 per cent or more of the allotted marks.
With the withdrawal of the condition, students can now apply for re-evaluation regardless of the marks obtained in the subject concerned, subject to the prescribed procedure, deadlines and fees.
The decision applies to Secondary School Examination (Class 10), Higher Secondary Examination Part-I (Class 11), Higher Secondary Examination Part-II (Class 12), Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) and Jammu and Kashmir State Open School examinations for Classes 10 and 12.
JKBOSE clarified that all other terms and conditions governing re-evaluation will remain unchanged.
The Board further stated that the notification will have prospective effect, meaning the revised eligibility provision will apply going forward.
The decision removes a restriction that previously prevented students scoring below 20 per cent in a subject from seeking re-evaluation of their answer scripts.
