Srinagar, Sept 3: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally dry weather over the coming days, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers expected at isolated to scattered places, according to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
The MeT Centre said weather would remain generally dry on September 3, although brief showers may occur at a few places.
On September 4, one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at many places, with brief intense showers possible at some locations.
From September 5 to 12, weather is expected to remain generally dry. However, brief spells of rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated to scattered places, particularly during the early morning and afternoon hours, the forecast said.
The Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory for September 4, warning that brief intense showers over localised areas could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides, particularly in vulnerable locations.
The weather department has, however, advised farmers that they may continue harvesting and other agricultural operations, subject to local weather conditions.
The latest forecast is broadly in line with the MeT Centre’s current outlook of mostly dry conditions punctuated by short, localised rain spells across J&K.
