Srinagar, Sep 8: The second UT-level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on narcotics control for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was held at the Police Control Room in Srinagar on Tuesday, with enforcement agencies calling for stronger coordination to combat drug trafficking networks.
The meeting was chaired by the DDG (NWR), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and IG Crime/ANTF of J&K Police. Senior officers from the ED, BSF, State Drug Controller, IB, Customs, DRI, Income Tax, NIA and police, including SSPs of Jammu, Srinagar and Ganderbal, participated.
The agencies discussed emerging trends in drug trafficking, inter-State linkages, illicit cultivation, information sharing, joint investigations, financial probes and effective prosecution.
Officials also reviewed measures for implementing the Vision Document on Drug Control (2026–2029) announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the 10th apex-level NCORD meeting in New Delhi on June 26.
The meeting stressed a network-centric approach, along with greater inter-agency coordination, joint interrogation, financial investigation and use of information-sharing mechanisms.
The meeting concluded with a call for sustained cooperation and a whole-of-government approach to detect, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks across J&K and Ladakh.
