Srinagar: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has directed all its officers and officials, including those posted outside court complexes, to register themselves under the Biometric Attendance System.
The direction was issued by Registrar General M K Sharma, reiterating the need for strict implementation of the biometric attendance mechanism across the District Courts of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The High Court impressed upon all officers and officials of the District Courts to ensure effective implementation of the system. It also directed all Presiding Officers of District Courts where biometric attendance machines have not yet been installed to follow the directions contained in Circular No. 83 dated June 28, 2018, and take necessary steps for the installation or repair of biometric machines.
The court said the measures were necessary to ensure that the Biometric Attendance System is implemented in letter and spirit across all District Courts.
It further directed all Presiding Officers/DDOs to ensure installation of at least one biometric machine at every headquarters. However, where the number of employees exceeds 70, two biometric machines may be installed to facilitate smooth attendance recording.
