CM Yogi Adityanath in Shamli

Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday cautioned the people of Shamli against the “followers of Jinnah”, saying that Samajwadi Party, or the “worshippers of Jinnah”, had changed the demography of the region which had forced Hindus to migrate from Kairana and Kandhla.“Whenever the followers of Jinnah get an opportunity, they will divide you in the name of region and caste. They will indulge in corruption in development works. They will compromise the safety of daughters and traders. You must remain constantly vigilant against them,” he said after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for 89 development projects worth more than Rs 581 crore.Describing the development in Shamli over the past nine years, the CM said that what was once a symbol of terror and fear where nobody was safe, Shamli had now become the confluence of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the Shamli-Ambala Expressway, and the Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway.“If the energy of the youth is channelled in a positive direction, then Shamli can become one of the richest and most prosperous districts in the NCR in the coming years. Where the people of Shamli longed for electricity 10 years back, it has now become a source of electricity supply for western UP,” he said.Telling people that the development was due to the public representatives they chose, the CM mentioned the regions MLAs and MPs, and former minister Suresh Rana. “After Chaudhary Charan Singh, whose vision for west UP is being implemented by BJP, it was Suresh Rana who took up the responsibility of improving and reviving sugar mills in 2017,” he said.Yogi said that between 2007 and 2017, at least 29 sugar mills were shut down and 21 mills were sold off at throwaway prices. When Rana became a minister, Yogi said, he told the CM that the mills would restart. At present, 122 sugar mills are functioning, and farmers are receiving payments on time. The CM said that UP is first in sugarcane, sugar, and ethanol production. The CM appealed to Kanwar Associations to practise discipline during the upcoming kanwar yatra. “The maryada of Shri Ram, the divine lilas of Shri Krishna, and the harmony and vitality of Lord Shiv inspire us to move forward. Discipline and patience are the greatest assets in life,” he said, also warning against hooliganism over “trivial matters”.“Opposing forces will try to use incidents of indiscipline to build pressure for banning the kanwar yatra, as happened earlier. If any wrong person enters among us and attempts to create disturbances, he should be caught by the ear and removed. Indiscipline will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If we conduct ourselves with respect for the sanctity of our festivals, these traditions will grow even stronger,” he said.
