Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Friday directed the state govt to submit a detailed report on the condition of govt schools, including those lacking proper infrastructure and adequate number of teachers.A division bench of Chief Justice MS Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) initiated suo motu by the high court on August 10 last year based on a news report published about the poor condition of Shahid Thakur Vishwanath Shahdev Zila School located in the state capital.The high court expressed concern over the lack of infrastructure and shortage of teachers, which affects the education of students enrolled in govt schools.The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), appearing in the case, sought time to furnish the report. Advocate general Rajiv Ranjan informed the court that the zila school has been taken over under the CM School of Excellence programme. He assured the court that steps were being taken to restore the zila school to its old glory, for which meetings were being held.The case would next be heard on February 26.
