Ranchi: The Ranchi office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow alert for a heatwave across 12 districts of the state on Friday.“The daytime temperatures are likely to increase by 3-5°C over the next five days. An alert for heatwave has been issued for 12 districts, including Ranchi, for Friday,” Abhishek Anand, scientist and deputy head of the Met office, said.Khunti, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega — located in northwest and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand — are the other districts for which the alert has been issued, the weather office said.“None of the 12 districts are expected to receive rainfall during the period. However, six districts — Godda, Sahibganj, Pakur, Deoghar, Dumka, and Jamtara — located in the north-eastern part of the state may receive up to 25% rain between Friday morning and Saturday morning,” he added.Dry weather prevailed over the state from Sunday to Monday morning. The highest maximum temperature of 39.8°C was recorded at Daltonganj, while the lowest minimum temperature of 16.8°C was recorded at Gumla. Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8°C and a minimum temperature of 20.2°C on Monday.
