RANCHI: The Jharkhand government will hold a sixth round of talks with protesting students on Sunday as efforts continue to resolve the deadlock over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, a member of the government panel said on Saturday.The meeting is scheduled for around 12pm, after the panel held a four-hour meeting with chief minister Hemant Soren to discuss the progress made during the previous five rounds of talks with student groups.“We apprised the chief minister of students’ views and demands that came to the fore during various rounds of meetings with delegations of student unions today and the day before.“It was decided in the meeting with the chief minister that a final round of talks with protesting students will take place at 12 pm on Sunday,” the panel’s member and Rural Development Minister Dipika Pandey Singh told news agency PTI.Another panel member, Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav, said the government had decided to continue discussions with the protesters, who are demanding major reforms in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).The protesters have been seeking an independent investigation into alleged examination irregularities. They have demanded either a CBI probe or an inquiry by a panel of retired high court judges from outside Jharkhand.The government has held four rounds of talks with different student groups since Friday night. However, the discussions have failed to end the stalemate, with the protesting job aspirants maintaining that their agitation will continue until all their demands are addressed.
