Ranchi: Voters are assembling documents for door-to-door verification for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Jharkhand, scheduled from June 30 to July 29, 2026.A garment vendor, Mujahid Alam, said, “We wholeheartedly welcome the step taken by the Election Commission (EC) to verify and revise the electoral rolls through door-to-door enumeration, pre-filled forms and verification of earlier voters’ data. As a seventh-generation family residing in the country, we have all the documents approved by the EC to prove us genuine voters.”Suman Chakraborty of Purulia Road said, “Though the deletion of names during SIR in West Bengal and Bihar is concerning, we are confident as our ancestors have participated in all polls since Independence.”Homemaker Deepali Chaudhury said, “I am not tense as I have been voting since 1995.”The EC has announced the third phase of SIR, covering 16 states and three Union Territories, including Jharkhand. The date for the revision has been fixed as October 1. The draft electoral roll would be published on Aug 5, while window for filing claims and objections would be open till Sept 4. The final rolls would be published on October 7.
