Ranchi: Jharkhand Congress vice-president (youth) Sourav Agrawal has lodged a complaint at the sadar police station in Ranchi against Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over an X post in which he allegedly targeted two individuals from a particular community.Police are conducting a preliminary inquiry against the Assam CM and others following the complaint, he said on Tuesday.

In his complaint on Monday, Agrawal said BJP Assam Pradesh had on February 7 posted on X a video showing Sarma aiming and firing what appears to be a firearm against two people of a particular community. He said the imagery and the caption are capable of instilling fear and hostility among sections of the public. The video has been deleted now.

Agrawal also demanded that the police ask the X platform to take down the BJP’s official social media handle and take strict action against Assam BJP social media department convener Biswajit Khaund and co-convener Bikash Gaurav.Ranchi (sardar) DSP Dajeev Besra said, “The police have registered a preliminary inquiry against the Assam CM in this connection, and we are conducting an investigation. If needed, a Zero FIR will be registered and sent to the police station concerned in Assam.”
