Pune: The Pimpri police have launched a manhunt for a jewellery showroom employee, who allegedly stole 39 gold chains worth Rs 34 lakh from the showroom on May 22.A 53-year-old jeweller has lodged a complaint with the Pimpri police.An officer from the Pimpri police said the accused worked at the showroom for the past few years. On the morning of May 22, he allegedly diverted the owner’s attention and stole 39 gold chains worth Rs 34 lakh from the display trays.“When the owner noticed the empty trays, he checked CCTV footage and found that his employee had stolen the chains,” the officer said.He said the suspect’s cellphone has been switched off, and his house in Nehrunagar in Pimpri was locked. “We have launched a manhunt for him,” the officer said.
