Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will issue notices to 130 coaching institutes on Gopalpura Bypass Road and begin removal proceedings in compliance with a Supreme Court order, officials said Wednesday. The court had ordered the shifting of coaching centres and paying guest (PG) accommodations on the busy stretch to a dedicated coaching hub constructed by the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB) in Pratap Nagar within three weeks.Officials said JDA had surveyed coaching centres on the road in 2025 and again recently. Notices will ask owners to either shut down or relocate their operations to Pratap Nagar. Authorities will also survey PG accommodations in nearby colonies to segregate licensed operators from those operating illegally before taking action.A senior JDA official said PG accommodations have proved harder to track. “We don’t have concrete numbers for PG accommodations located in colonies on both sides of Gopalpura Bypass Road. Many operate without licenses, but we need to ensure notices are sent to all,” the official said.A Supreme Court bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R Mahadevan had Tuesday flagged the inconvenience caused to residents by coaching institutes and other activities operating out of commercial and residential zones in the area.JDA DIG (Enforcement) Anand Sharma said a final plan on removing coaching institutes and PG accommodations from the area would be drawn up after consultations with other concerned agencies. “The SC order directs shifting of coaching centres from Gopalpura to Pratap Nagar. For that, we need cooperation from RHB, police and the municipal corporation. The JDA commissioner will chair a joint meeting of these agencies Thursday,” Sharma said.The RHB spent Rs 300 crore to build a 243-unit coaching hub in Pratap Nagar. Former RHB commissioner Pawan Arora said 92 of the 140 units built in the first phase during his tenure were initially sold. “The govt, however, had to refund money in most cases because the rules permit buyers to cancel transactions within a specific period,” he said. An RHB official said only 14 units were eventually sold, with just three or four coaching units currently operating from the Pratap Nagar hub.
