Jaipur: Residents and businesses will no longer be able to put up advertisements in public places, private buildings, bridges, footpaths, trees, city walls, gates, electric or telephone poles, or open spaces without approval.Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will enforce its Outdoor Advertisement Regulations 2026 from Oct 18, laying down a new framework for the categories of outdoor displays, permission procedures, fee structure and enforcement powers.“We have defined different types of displays, procedures to apply for permissions and rates. The regulations also specify steps JDA can take against individuals or companies for violations,” the official said. The rules bar rooftop billboards on private buildings, hoardings on private land using poles, and advertisements on monuments, schools, hospitals, bridges, city walls, city gates and archaeological sites. “Advertising boards must be placed 30 feet from the centre of the road. Advertisements that obstruct visibility and traffic are also prohibited,” another official said. For commercial establishments, nameplates up to 10 square feet will be exempt from charges. Personal business advertisements beyond that limit will attract a fee of Rs 250 per square foot, while LED, LCD and digital displays will be charged Rs 375 per square foot.“All advertising fees will increase by 10 per cent annually. If an advertisement is placed without permission, JDA will charge double fee. For a second violation, JDA may charge three times the annual advertisement fee and may also close the business,” a JDA official said. The regulations allow an accused party to appeal before the advertising committee within 30 days. The JDA tribunal will have jurisdiction over advertising disputes. Officials said enforcement teams are ready. “Although the notification was issued two months back, it was not implemented due to model code conduct during urban local bodies elections. We will start enforcing this act next week,” an official added.
