Jaipur: Congress chief whip and Adarsh Nagar MLA Rafiq Khan Thursday said that small houses are being sealed for extortion while construction by large builders and influential individuals is being ignored by the officials of Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Jaipur Development Authority (JDA).Raising the issue of growing corruption during Calling Attention Motion in the Assembly, Khan said this is double standard as poor are being targeted. He said no house in the state is being allotted without corruption and people are being harassed. “During the Congress govt’s tenure, approximately 14 lakh house allotments were issued, but in the current govt’s term, not a single new allotment was granted.” When objections were raised by the ruling party members in the House, Khan challenged them to show a single construction in Jaipur where work is being carried out without corruption. He said the state govt became a protector of land mafias, citing illegal encroachments around resettlement flats in the Bagarana area of Adarsh Nagar and alleged encroachments on govt land in Sawai Chak, questioning the administration’s functioning.
