Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has announced that Manoj Bajpayee will play Mahatma Gandhi in his upcoming biopic. The film, likely to begin shooting in Kolkata this September, will explore key phases of Gandhi’s life. Known for his intense performances, Bajpayee’s casting hints at a thoughtful, character-driven portrayal.

Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, the son of legendary filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, passed away in Mumbai on February 13, 2026. Anand had served as one of the co-producers of the iconic television series Ramayan (1987–1988), which was written and directed by his father. After his funeral, a prayer meet was held in Mumbai on Monday, February 16 at Vile Parle. Many celebrities were seen arriving for the prayer meet to pay their respects.

The official statement about his demise read, “It is with deep sorrow and profound grief, Sagar family announces the sad demise of their beloved father, Shri Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, who passed away peacefully today, 13th February 2026. Son of legendary Ramanand Sagar, creator of the original 1987 TV series Ramayan, Anand ji was part of the second generation managing Sagar Arts. A man of warmth, dignity, and values, Shri Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra touched many lives with his kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit. He will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.”
