Jamshedpur: Random inspections of LPG booking centres and refill godowns are being carried out by the officials of East Singhbhum district administration to prevent hoarding and black marketing of cylinders amid the ongoing crisis triggered by the conflict in West Asia.Booking centres and refill godowns at Sidhgora, Telco, Mango and Dimna were inspected by SDO (Dhalbhum) Arnav Mishra and ADM (Law and Order) Rahul Anand on Thursday late evening. The duo examined the available stock, distribution management, daily bookings and delivery status of the cylinders.Safety measures at the godowns and operating licences of the agency owners were also checked.A gas oven repairing shop in Sidhgora was sealed after the officials noticed that unauthorised refilling of cooking cylinder was being carried out on its premises.“Hoarding of the LPG cylinders, black marketing and manufactured shortage will be dealt with iron hand,” SDO said, adding that the suprise checks would continue in the coming days.Officials estimated that 50,000 cylinders now remained to be delivered from the backlog bookings. Over 20,000 20,000 cylinders were supplied to the consumers daily over the last week. However, queues still exist outside gas booking agencies. “Earlier due Eid and Navratri, demand had increased. After the festival, the spike in demand will come down,” said district supplies officer Zulfikar Ansari. The official said that commercial LPG customers are experiencing inconvenience in receiving the cylinder as refills supply is limited, but domestic connections supply is largely normal.A city-based LPG supply agency, Oasis Gas, officials said that presently there is a five to seven days gap between booking and delivery of the cylinders.
