Srinagar, Aug 31: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally hot and humid weather over the next two days, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers expected at many places, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said.

According to the latest forecast, one or two spells of rain and thundershowers are likely across J&K on August 31 and September 1, with brief intense showers possible, particularly during the early morning and late afternoon/evening hours.

The Jammu division may witness brief spells of intense and heavy showers during these periods, raising the possibility of sudden weather-related disruptions.

The MeT Centre has warned that brief intense showers at localised places could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides during August 31 and September 1/2.

From September 2 to 10, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, although brief spells of rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated to scattered places, mainly during the early morning and afternoon hours.

The Meteorological Centre has advised people to remain cautious in vulnerable areas, particularly during intense showers.

Meanwhile, farmers have been advised that they may continue with harvesting and other agricultural operations.
