Srinagar, October 20 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has reportedly approved an increase in the monthly stipend of MBBS and BDS interns to ₹25,000, as announced by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. However, the All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) and protesting interns have decided to continue their agitation until the official written government order is issued.
Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, President of AIMSA, reiterated that verbal assurances and announcements are not enough, stressing that the interns want the formal written order before considering any withdrawal of the protest.
Dr Khan said that interns have clearly informed him that they will not call off their protest until the order is officially issued. AIMSA maintained that the demand remains unchanged: “No Written Order — No End to Protest.”
