The women protesters on Wednesday

Churachandpur: The women’s wing of Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) held a sit-in at the Wall of Remembrance from 11:00am on Wednesday, demanding the release of 14 Kuki civilians allegedly held in captivity by Naga groups and the arrest of those responsible for the killing of three pastors in an ambush between Churachandpur and Kangpokpi on May 13, 2026.During the protest, women protesters questioned why the United Naga Council withdrew its decision earlier to release the 14 civilians. Participants said the protesters appealed to the Centre to ensure their safe release soon on humanitarian grounds.Placards at the protest site read “Cold Blooded Must Not Be Normalised In Democracy”, “Three Lives Taken, “14 Held Hostage”, among others. The ITLF said the protest will continue until the 14 civilians are released and those responsible for the killing of the three pastors are arrested.
