Mohammedan Sporting Club started ISL 2025-26 disastrously, losing seven consecutive matches. However, the Kolkata side halted the slide by remaining unbeaten in its last three encounters. Three draws in as many away matches for the visitor should make Kerala Blasters wary of its rival when the two sides meet at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium here on Sunday.

Kerala Blasters coach Ashley Westwood, who is back after suspension, said he expects a tough match against the bottom-placed Mohammedan SC and wanted his players to give their 100% on the field.

“It is by no means an easy game for us. If we don’t give our 100% we will lose, it is as simple as that. They have nothing to lose. They are certainly not the weakest side in the league based on the performance in the last three games. They have got three draws and not many teams have done that.

“They have some dangerous players who play aggressively. They will do everything to win. We need to go into the game with confidence and play to our potential,’’ he said.

Blasters are also in the middle of a resurgent run under Westwood and are placed joint eighth with 11 points from as many matches. The Englishman said his team will play with intensity and look for a win.
