Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited the racing site at Manohar International Airport to check preparations and operational readiness

Panaji: Tighten your seatbelts, this one is going to be a race like never before on a temporary street track that blends fast straights with technical corners. The Indian Racing Festival is set to break new ground as Goa stages its first-ever high-octane Formula Street Race Weekend. The race will be Round 4 of the championship at the Manohar International Airport, Mopa, on Saturday and Sunday. The IRF is India’s only four-wheel racing league, and the world’s first gender-neutral championship. Franchise-owned and fan-fuelled, the championship fuses inclusivity, speed, and spectacle to create a format built for rivalries and reach. The championship will be held on a FIA-grade street circuit measuring 2.064 kilometres. Featuring 12 turns carved into the airport’s expansive layout, the track has been designed to encourage close racing, late braking and constant position battles, which will set the stage for an intense weekend of competition.“Goa’s cosmopolitan character, excellent connectivity and status as a year-round leisure hotspot makes it the perfect host for a marquee motorsport event,” said Akhilesh Reddy, chairman of the Indian Racing Festival. “Hosting this round allows us to merge elite racing with mainstream lifestyle appeal while spotlighting Goa on the global sporting calendar.”Reddy, who has been closely involved in the planning of the street circuit, said transforming roads into a competitive racing venue needed meticulous coordination. Safety remains a priority.“The circuit has been developed with FIA-standard temporary infrastructure, including reinforced barriers, advanced crash protection systems, dedicated medical and rescue teams, and comprehensive safety protocols for drivers, teams and spectators. Rigorous pre-event testing and continuous monitoring during race days will ensure world-class safety standards throughout the weekend,” said Reddy.Organisers said the first of its kind event in Goa is not just about racing; it’s lifestyle event as much as a sport with music, fan zones and brand experiences. Given that there will be pit-lane glimpses, fans will get closer to the sport than in most formats.
