iPhone 17 launch would ideally not get a lot of hype but Apple plans to make a slew of changes to get people excited for the new model.
Apple could bring another bright colour for the iPhone 17 series
iPhone 17 launch is definitely going to be a big highlight of 2025 and even the regular model could be offered some notable upgrades over the iPhone 16 model this year. The design leaks have not exactly gotten us off the seats but you get a sense that Apple wants to make changes that add value and make people consider buying the standard iPhone 17 if the 17 Pro models are too high on their budget.
The good news is that the iPhone 17 will be getting some form improvements and you can base that around the design, display, cameras and other elements that form a core part of the device.
iPhone 17 Design And Display Upgrades We Can Expect
The new iPhone 17 base model could be lining up alongside the iPhone 17 Air moniker, with some rumours suggesting that Apple will ditch the Plus model from here on. Apple could make some minor design alterations but the core look and feel will be similar to the iPhone 16. Which means you will again see the vertically-placed dual rear cameras. The company could add new shades to the iPhone 17 series, which could be either of purple or green as per reports.
iPhone 17 is rumoured to sport a bigger 6.3-inch display this year. It is expected to get some major display upgrades like a 120Hz refresh rate for the OLED display but without the ProMotion tech that you get with the Pro models. Going with a standard 120Hz refresh rate screen will make scrolling fluid.
However, the iPhone 17 battery life could take a hit and the Always-On Display option could be limited to the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max variants once again.
iPhone 17 Camera And Other Updates Coming This Year
iPhone 17 series is tipped for a big 24MP TrueDepth camera upgrade on the front. Apple’s selfie game has been lacking for years and hopefully the new sensor will give the right boost. While the main camera system could offer the same MP cameras, we expect new sensors to offer better photo quality.
Apple is also likely to use the new in-house 5G modem that was first introduced with the iPhone 16E earlier this year. We could also see the brand bring Wi-Fi 7 to its devices this year, which will give it further bandwidth boost in Gbps as well as better control over the networking setup.
