Patna: A state-level yoga programme will be organised at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna on June 21 to mark the 12th International Yoga Day. The event will be organised by the state health department’s Ayush Society.Mass yoga sessions will also be held at Lok Bhawan and on the Patna high court premises.Health minister Nishant Kumar said the theme for this year’s International Yoga Day is “Yoga for healthy ageing”. Through this theme, efforts will be made to encourage people to adopt yoga for better health, an active lifestyle and mental wellbeing as they age.The minister said yoga programmes would be organised on a large scale across all districts and blocks of the state, including at Ayush centres. Various awareness and participation-based activities will also be conducted to promote yoga and encourage greater public involvement.“Yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise; it is an effective lifestyle practice that helps create balance between the body, mind and soul. Regular yoga practice enhances physical strength, mental wellbeing and emotional stability, besides helping prevent several diseases,” Nishant said in a press release.He urged people to participate enthusiastically in International Yoga Day events and make yoga a part of their daily routine.The minister said yoga can play an important role in building a healthy Bihar. It is particularly beneficial in reducing age-related health problems, improving quality of life and helping people maintain an active and self-reliant lifestyle.Nishant said 294 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Ayush) are currently functioning across the state, where treatment and Ayush medicines are provided free of cost. Regular yoga sessions are conducted at these centres, and people are also educated about the benefits and uses of medicinal plants and herbs.He added that Panchakarma therapy services have been strengthened at the state’s Ayurveda colleges, enabling people to access quality healthcare.
