Nashik: Nashik airport has handled over 9,000 tonnes of international air cargo movement through 500 cargo flights in the financial year 2025–26.This is double from the 4,100 tones handled through 250 flights in the 2024–25 fiscal. The bulk of the outbound cargo includes grapes, agricultural and poultry products, defence consignments and a variety of industrial goods, according to sources from HALCON (the joint venture between Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Container Corporation of India), which manages air cargo handling at Nashik Airport. In 2023–24, the Nashik Airport had handled just 415 tonnes through 25 flights. HALCON officials said they have crossed the 9,000-tonne-mark 10 days before the completion of the financial year. “We will cross the 1,000-tonne-mark by March 31,” the officials said.Operations to Gulf countries were suspended for nearly eight days this month due to the ongoing conflict involving the US/Israel–Iran situation. “But air cargo services from Nashik Airport have now resumed,” HALCON sources said. The officials added that they are making efforts to push exports to as many international destinations as possible. “Our air cargo handling and other charges are significantly lower than those at Mumbai airport. There is also enormous potential for exporting a wide range of commodities from Nashik,” they said. Over the past few months, exports of pharmaceutical products have also begun from the airport, they added.
