Mangaluru: Panambur police arrested four persons and seized 22.3 kg of ganja valued at over Rs 11 lakh during a raid near Jokatte Cross railway bridge on Saturday.Acting on credible information that ganja was brought from another state for sale, the ACP, North Subdivision, along with his team, the Panambur police PSI, and staff, conducted a raid and arrested the suspects.

City Police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy stated that the arrested were Karan Baburam Jadhav,27, from Jalgaon district, Maharashtra; Sameer Sha,19, from Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh; MH Mayyadi,48, from Hejamadi Kodi, Udupi district and Ibrahim Khalil,47, from Kudroli, currently residing in Kavoor in the city. Police seized 22.3 kg of ganja worth approximately Rs 11.1 lakh, six mobile phones valued at around Rs 18,000, and two scooters worth about Rs 1 lakh, which were used to transport the drugs. During interrogation, it was revealed that Karan Jadhav and Sameer Shah procured the ganja from Mayyadi in Maharashtra and Shahrukh in Madhya Pradesh, and transported it to coastal Karnataka. They allegedly delivered the ganja to MH Mayyadi of Udupi and Ibrahim Khalil of Mangaluru, who in turn sold it at several locations, including Udupi, Malpe, Karkala, Mulki, Surathkal, Panambur, and other parts of Mangaluru city, the police commissioner stated. Police said the accused previously smuggled and peddled ganja in Udupi and Mangaluru. The total value of the seized items was estimated at Rs 12.3 lakh. A case was registered at Panambur police station under Sections 8(C) and 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act.
