Ahmedabad: The Local Crime Branch (Zone-1) of city police busted an interstate gang involved in stealing high-end sports bikes and arrested three men native of Rajasthan. They also recovered 13 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 13 lakh, resulting in detection of 12 previously undetected cases.Acting on specific intelligence during routine patrolling, an LCB Zone-1 team identified suspects stealing premium bikes such as Yamaha R15, MT-15, KTM Duke and Pulsar RS 200. Following coordinated surveillance, three accused were apprehended, leading to the detection of cases registered at Gujarat University, Vastrapur, Sola High Court, Ghatlodia, Bodakdev and Sabarmati police stations.The arrested accused have been identified as Sunilkumar Garasia (21), a resident of Memnagar originally from Sirohi, Rajasthan; Kailash Rot (22), residing in Thaltej and hailing from Dungarpur; and Vijesh Nanoma (19), also from Dungarpur and living in Thaltej. Police said all three were employed in low-income jobs — two as food delivery workers and one as a housekeeping staffer at a mall — while allegedly engaging in thefts.According to investigators, the trio scouted for vehicles across the city. Based on their inputs, their associates from Rajasthan — Thavra alias Thavo Hansaram Garasia, Vikas Kumar Kesra Ram Garasia and Pravin Garasia — would travel to Ahmedabad, steal motorcycles at night and return the same day. The co-accused are currently absconding.Police recovered multiple stolen motorcycles, including Yamaha R15 and MT-15, KTM Duke models, Pulsar RS 200 and a Royal Enfield, linking them to FIRs registered earlier this year. Officials said the gang had been active for nearly two months, primarily targeting parked bikes in residential and public areas.Preliminary investigations revealed that the stolen vehicles were transported to Rajasthan and sold at throwaway prices ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000, driven by demand for sports bikes in rural pockets.
