Ranchi: The police busted an interstate drug racket on Wednesday and recovered 61.19 grams of brown sugar valued at around Rs 12 lakh.The police also arrested 2 men, Sonu Yadav (23) and Ajay Yadav (20), of Ranchi for their alleged involvement in trafficking brown sugar from Bihar’s Sasaram and selling it to drug dealers in Ranchi.

The Superintendent of Police of Ranchi (city), Paras Rana, on Thursday said that at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday, the police received a tip-off that 2 accused were coming to Ranchi by bus from Sasaram, carrying brown sugar.They were about to reach the New Market auto stand in Sukhdev Nagar from Kantatoli.“Upon receiving the information, police waited for the duo at the bus stand. Meanwhile, at around 9:30 pm, 2 suspicious boys tried to run away on seeing the police team. Police surrounded and nabbed both,” Rana said.He added that the duo went to Sasaram by train on Tuesday, bought brown sugar from Baban Sah and Suraj Sah in Sasaram, and returned to Ranchi by bus.A case was registered against the duo at Sukhdev Nagar Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
