Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh leaders on Wednesday called for renewed global and local efforts to protect tigers and their natural habitats to maintain an ecological balance, marking International Tiger Day.CM Pema Khandu said India, which has the world’s largest wild tiger population, has demonstrated that sustained conservation efforts can deliver tangible results. “On International Tiger Day, let us renew our commitment to protecting the majestic tiger and preserving its natural habitat. As home to the world’s largest wild tiger population, India has shown that dedicated conservation efforts can make a real difference,” Khandu said.Echoing the CM ’s sentiment, the state’s home minister, Mama Natung, said tiger conservation is directly linked to the health of forest ecosystems and biodiversity. “The roar of the tiger is the voice of thriving forests,” Natung said. “Conserving tigers means safeguarding our forests, preserving biodiversity and ensuring ecological balance for future generations. Let us continue working together towards a future where wildlife and humanity thrive in harmony,” he added.The leaders said protecting apex predators like tigers remains integral to securing the forest cover and biodiversity across the northeastern region.
