Srinagar, September 4 : The peaceful protest by intern doctors demanding a revision in their stipend has entered its fifth day, with interns across Jammu and Kashmir continuing to press for a fair and immediate hike in their stipend.
A delegation of intern doctors met the Advisor to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this morning to discuss the issue. The intern representatives are scheduled to meet the Health Minister at 2:30 PM today to seek a concrete resolution to the long-pending demand.
The interns remain hopeful that the meeting will result in a positive and meaningful decision from the Government.
However, if no concrete decision is reached, the intern doctors will hold an immediate press conference at Gupkar around 3:00 PM today to brief the media and outline the future course of action.
The position of the intern doctors remains clear and unchanged: the peaceful protest will continue until the stipend hike is officially approved and a written Government Order (GO) is issued.
Intern doctors have repeatedly appealed to the authorities to resolve the matter at the earliest and ensure that their legitimate demand is addressed through a formal Government decision
Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, Incharge, AIMSA J&K, said, “We are all waiting for the outcome of the delegation’s meeting with the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. We will see what comes out of the meeting and whether the government takes the demand for a stipend hike seriously.”
