Ludhiana: The Khanna police have claimed a significant breakthrough by busting an inter-state criminal gang, leading to the arrest of four accused allegedly involved in theft, robbery, and snatching across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. Law enforcement officials have recovered one looted gold chain and two stolen motorcycles from the suspects.DSP Tarlochan Singh stated that the investigation originated from a case registered at the Samrala police station on September 27 last year. The complainant, Amandeep Kaur, reported that two youths snatched her gold chain while she was visiting a market in Samrala with a friend. Following the incident, an immediate investigation was launched, during which an accused named Ashu was initially arrested, though the primary suspect, Shiva, remained absconding at the time.A CIA staff team from the Khanna police later apprehended Shiva. During his interrogation, the identity of other gang members—Sagar, Jai Ram, and Kanta—was revealed. All the arrested individuals are residents of Shamli in Uttar Pradesh and had been living in rented accommodation in Khanna. Further investigation disclosed that the group utilized stolen motorcycles to commit their crimes and subsequently sold looted gold to jewelers in Uttar Pradesh.The police are currently searching for the buyer of the stolen items. According to official reports, the gang was active in Khanna, Mohali, Mandi Gobindgarh, and Amloh, in addition to other districts. Their criminal network extended across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, where they were “continuously involved” in illegal activities. Officials noted that efforts remain underway to trace additional members of the gang, with further major revelations expected in the coming days as the probe continues.
