Hyderabad: The Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) 2026 results released on Sunday saw Telangana students better their performance this year with the second-year pass percentage improving by over 4% — from 71.4% (in 2025) to 75.6% this time. Official data shows this is the highest pass percentage recorded in the last five years.Around 4.11 lakh students appeared for the exam conducted between Feb 25 and Mar 18. Of them, 3.11 lakh cleared the test, said officials of the Telangana Board of the Intermediate Education (TGBIE).“The results have been very good. If you look at the numbers over the last three years, you can see that the pass percentage is consistently increasing,” said K Keshava Rao, advisor, Telangana govt, while releasing the results. He added: “Our numbers show that we are doing better than private schools and colleges, even if some people think otherwise.”Of the second year students who passed, 2.13 lakh secured ‘A’ grade (above 75%); 69,641 secured ‘B’ grade (between 60% and 75%); 22,862 got ‘C’ grade (between 50% and 60%); and 5,430 candidates got ‘D’ grade (between 35% and 50%). Among first years, 1.92 lakh candidates secured A grade marks, followed by 65,480 with B grade.Overall, the pass percentage of first-year students stood at 66.9% — 2,95,780 candidates of the 4,41,864 students cleared the test — a slight drop from last year’s 69.4%. Girls outshine boysSimilar to last year’s second-year results, girls performed better with a pass percentage of 81.8%, while the percentage among boys was restricted to 68.9%. Among first-year students too the trend remained the sane: 74.4% among girls and 59.21% among boys. Meanwhile, students can pay for recounting/reverification between April 13 and April 20. Fee for reverification is Rs 800 per subject and fee for recounting is Rs 100 per subject
