Ramanan SV, CEO – India & South Asia, Intellect Design Arena, in an exclusive conversation with Kumar Aditya, ETLegalWorld, discusses the evolving role of AI in enterprise operations and banking, the significance of Intellect’s Purple Fabric platform, the company’s partnership with AU Small Finance Bank, and the regulatory challenges shaping AI adoption in the financial sector.

The conversation comes as AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB), India’s largest small finance bank and the first in over a decade to receive in-principle approval to transition into a universal bank, announced its collaboration with Intellect Design Arena, a global financial technology company, to adopt its Purple Fabric platform, described as the world’s first Open Business Impact AI platform.

Kumar Aditya: How do you see the challenge of scaling AI in an enterprise into everyday business operations with consistency and measurable business impact?

Ramanan SV, CEO-India & South Asia, Intellect Design Arena: The real challenge in enterprise AI is not experimentation. It is scaling AI into everyday business operations in a way that consistently delivers measurable outcomes. Many organisations have isolated AI use cases, but struggle to operationalise them across functions and workflows. Success depends on having a scalable foundation that combines model flexibility, domain intelligence and enterprise-grade orchestration. AI needs to move beyond pilots and become embedded into how organisations operate and create value.

Kumar Aditya: Please tell us about Purple Fabric. What makes it distinct and unique?

Ramanan SV, CEO-India & South Asia, Intellect Design Arena: Purple Fabric is the world’s first Open Business Impact AI platform designed to help enterprises move from AI experimentation to AI execution. Purple Fabric stands out with its open, flexible architecture that combines a multi-model LLM Hub, domain-driven intelligence, and seamless enterprise integration. It lets organisations build AI solutions around business outcomes rather than technology constraints, so they can scale intelligence while keeping their choice and ecosystem flexible.

Kumar Aditya: How do you see this partnership with AU Small Finance Bank?

Ramanan SV, CEO-India & South Asia, Intellect Design Arena: This collaboration is a significant milestone in enterprise AI adoption within Indian banking. At AU Small Finance Bank, we aim to be an AI-first institution, and we’re enabling that journey with a scalable AI foundation. This partnership combines AU SFB’s ambition with Intellect’s AI-first banking capabilities to deliver enterprise-wide intelligence at scale. It is a structured and scalable approach to creating measurable business impact.

Kumar Aditya: What regulatory and policy challenges are there in the AI intersection with the banking industry?

Ramanan SV, CEO-India & South Asia, Intellect Design Arena:As AI adoption accelerates, the focus will increasingly move towards governance, explainability, privacy and responsible deployment. Banking operates within a highly regulated environment where trust is fundamental. Institutions need frameworks that ensure transparency, accountability and compliance while enabling innovation. The challenge is balancing speed with governance and ensuring AI adoption remains aligned with regulatory expectations.

Kumar Aditya: How do you see the future of AI deployment in the banking industry?

Ramanan SV, CEO-India & South Asia, Intellect Design Arena: The future of AI in banking will move beyond automation and isolated use cases towards intelligence embedded across the enterprise. AI will increasingly become contextual, predictive and domain-aware. Institutions that create scalable AI foundations today will be able to deliver faster responses, smarter operations and highly personalised experiences. We are moving towards a future where AI becomes a core operating capability rather than an additional technology layer.
