Surat: As thousands of flood-hit citizens assess damage to homes, vehicles and businesses, Surat district authorities have launched a drive to speed up insurance settlements, directing insurers to simplify procedures, deploy nodal officers and fast-track claims.The district administration has moved to accelerate insurance claim processing after the recent floods caused widespread damage to vehicles and property across the region.To make the claims process quicker and ensure faster assistance to affected citizens, the administration held a special review meeting with representatives of all general insurance companies. At the meeting, insurers were directed to appoint nodal officers to help policyholders and coordinate claim-related work.Officials also directed insurers to begin proactive surveys in affected areas, simplify claim registration by requiring only essential documents and to expedite claim settlements. Companies were asked to provide full assistance to policyholders.General insurance companies have since appointed nodal officers. To help citizens access the relevant contact details, the administration released a QR code that provides a list of nodal officers and their phone numbers.Residents facing difficulties during the claims process can contact their insurer’s nodal officer directly. If a complaint remains unresolved after approaching the insurance company, or if citizens wish to submit a representation to the district administration, they can email their policy and claim details to the email ID created for coordination and prompt action.
