Jodhpur: Social media influencer Anita Bishnoi (32), who allegedly attempted suicide after facing online trolling Wednesday and is undergoing treatment at the MDM Hospital in Jodhpur, has shown signs of recovery.Hospital superintendent Vikas Rajpurohit said she was brought to the hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday after allegedly consuming a toxic substance. She was initially treated in the emergency ward and later shifted to the ICU for close monitoring.“Her condition has improved, but she will remain under observation for the next two to three days due to the lingering effects of the poison,” said Rajpurohit. However, no case has yet been filed in the matter and police are awaiting the family members to lodge a formal police report against the alleged trolls.SHO Banar Lekhraj Sihag said that police are waiting for the family members to come and file a report.“Presently, they are attending to her in the hospital and waiting for her to be normal,” said Sihag. The incident came to light after Anita shared an emotional message on social media shortly before allegedly consuming the substance. In the post, she wrote that people would no longer see their “sister” in this world after that day, triggering concern among her followers and prompting a flood of reactions online.According to her husband, Dinaram, Anita was under severe mental stress due to sustained trolling and harassment on social media. He alleged that several influencers had been targeting her over a post in which she commented satirically on changing social values and cultural trends.“Some individuals had threatened to defame her and had sent objectionable messages through WhatsApp, leaving her deeply disturbed,” he alleged.Dinaram was away from home when the incident occurred. After seeing Anita’s social media post, an acquaintance informed him over the phone, following which he immediately rushed home and took her to the hospital for treatment.Meanwhile, Anita’s nephew, Mahendra Bishnoi, has linked the controversy to a family dispute. He alleged that a land-related disagreement in Anita’s marital family led to tensions and that six family members were involved in initiating the trolling campaign.Anita began creating videos in 2018, initially focusing on Rajasthani culture and social issues. Over the years, she built a significant following on social media. Seeing the popularity and success, her husband, a farmer, started supporting her content creation efforts.
