Ghaziabad: Social media influencer Nazia Elahi Khan filed a police complaint after a user on Instagram allegedly posted a reel threatening to kill her. Police said they are investigating.Khan, who is a BJP functionary, alleged in her complaint that she had been receiving threats from the Instagram ID shahilahmad786. In a clip cited by her, the user allegedly issued a direct threat by saying, “Gardan kaat kar alag kar doonga. (I will cut her neck and separate it).”Khan alleged that the man also used abusive language towards her. A lawyer, Khan was legal counsel for Ishrat Jahan, one of the petitioners in the 2017 Supreme Court petition that successfully challenged the practice of triple talaq.Police sources said they are probing if the threats have anything to do with a controversial podcast featuring Khan that was released In June this year. ACP (Indirapuram) Suryabali Maurya said an FIR has been registered under BNS Section 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) and relevant sections of the IT Act at Indirapuram police station. “A team has been formed to investigate the matter and we are also taking help from cyber police,” he said.
