Located on the Mandovi River in Goa, near the Goa-Karnataka border, the name of this majestic waterfall itself means “Sea of Milk”. The meaning becomes clear, when the fall turns especially milky white during the monsoon season, when torrents of water plunge down the rocky landscape. Dudhsagar is a four-tiered waterfall with a total height of about 1,017 ft.

The falls is located inside the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, and can be accessed from Kulem/road/rail followed by a walk. The most common way to reach the falls is by jeep safari from the village of Kulem. Even though trains pass through an iconic train bridge over the falls, they don’t stop here.

Where: Goa-Karnataka border, Goa
Best time to visit: Monsoon/post-monsoon for maximum flow, but access can be subject to local restrictions.
