Having drawn considerable controversy during its first season, the show now treads more carefully with its content, and the latest episode saw Samay step in to halt a joke before it went too far.
Samay Raina cut short the contestant’s joke
During a segment on flight-related fears, Samay Raina asked a contestant, “You have a huge fear of flights. Why? Are they very expensive?” The contestant, Vijay, laughed and began explaining that he hails from Ahmedabad, recounting an incident from a year ago involving a phone call from a friend telling him to look to his left, an apparent reference to the Air India crash that occurred in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025.Realising where the joke was headed, Samay immediately cut in, saying, “Can you give a different answer that we can keep?” Vijay quickly pivoted, joking instead, “Bhot mehngi hoti hai yaar.”
Samay Raina opens up about Ahmedabad show troubles
Following the exchange, Samay used the moment to address his own struggles performing in the city. He admitted, “Mere khud ke show nahi ho pa rahe hain Ahmedabad mein,” before folding his hands on camera and appealing directly to local authorities: “Ahmedabad authorities, if you are watching this, let me do shows in Ahmedabad.” He also added, “I love performing in Gujarat.”Samay’s difficulties in Ahmedabad trace back to February 2025, when ‘India’s Got Latent’ came under heavy criticism following controversial comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia on the show. The fallout reportedly led to the cancellation of two of Samay’s shows in the city.
