New Delhi: Thirty-seven Indian deep-tech startups and ventures are showcasing their innovations at the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 11 and 12, alongside the 18th BRICS Summit being hosted under India’s BRICS chairship.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and BRICS leaders are expected to visit the exposition, which has been organised by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs.
The exposition brings together startups from the original cohort of 120 deep-tech ventures that participated in the first Bharat Innovates exposition in Nice, France, in June this year. The event is aligned with the theme of India’s BRICS chairship, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
The initiative is aimed at connecting India’s deep-tech innovation ecosystem, including startups, higher education institutions, laboratories and research parks, with global investors, corporates, universities, research institutions, incubators and governments.
Being held alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, the exposition is expected to provide participating startups with opportunities for B2B meetings, technology partnerships, investment discussions and international market access.
According to the Ministry of Education, the event also supports one of the five priority areas under India’s BRICS Education Track: “Enhancing Research, Innovation and Start-up Ecosystems.”
Senior Indian and international delegates taking part in BRICS Leaders’ engagements, along with CEOs, investors and business leaders from BRICS member countries, are expected to visit the exposition.
The participating innovators will also have access to structured matchmaking and B2B engagements facilitated in coordination with industry bodies including FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.
The Ministry said the platform is intended to help Indian innovators translate domestic technological capabilities into international commercial partnerships, investment and technology collaborations.
Bharat Innovates’ France edition
The Delhi exposition follows the maiden edition of Bharat Innovates, held in Nice, France, from June 14 to 16 under the India-France Year of Innovation 2026.
The first edition showcased 120 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures across 13 thematic areas and included participation from 15 institutions, including IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDEX.
The event brought together more than 2,000 participants from 29 countries and resulted in over 30 collaboration MoUs and partnerships. Indian startups and ventures also secured funding commitments of $254.5 million following 1,350 B2B meetings, according to the Ministry.
The BRICS edition builds on the Ministry of Education’s broader engagement under India’s BRICS chairship. India hosted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting on August 7 in Bhubaneswar and the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education on August 5.
The BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting adopted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration, identifying five priority areas: early childhood care and education and foundational literacy and numeracy; skill development and technical and vocational education and training; research, innovation and startup ecosystems; mutual recognition of qualifications; and capacity building for academic leadership and institutional development.
Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof Ajay Kumar Sood also interacted with participating startups and innovators at the exposition, with discussions covering the science behind the technologies, their applications and the potential to scale prototypes.
