New Delhi: INDIA bloc MPs will take out a march on Tuesday to the Election Commission of India (ECI) as part of the scheduled Opposition campaign, seeking the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and opposing SIR.

After the Chief Justice of India observed during a hearing that the Supreme Court had not approved any modified version of Form 6, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that “it is now established beyond doubt” that Gyanesh Kumar “changed Form 6 illegally and unilaterally”.

Tweeting a September 26 ECI press release, which, among other things, said the declaration attached to Form 6 for SIR has been upheld by SC, Gandhi noted: “This is just one more proof of him abusing his position to help BJP. He and everyone else involved in this criminal assault on our democracy will be held accountable.”
This would be the second time the INDIA bloc MPs are resolving to take out a march, after they had taken out a similar march in August 2025 from Parliament House to the ECI office against SIR and “vote chori”. Security barricades had stopped them midway. Prominent Opposition leaders and MPs from several other regional parties are expected to be part of Tuesday’s march.

Meanwhile, in line with the recent CWC decision, Congress will conduct its own campaigns, including ‘vote bachao, desh bachao’ demonstrations at block levels from October 10-20, followed by village-level meetings to identify deleted voters, and hold six marches to New Delhi on Constitution Day, November 26, said AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal after a meeting of party functionaries.
