Srinagar, Feb 26: Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed Inam Ul Haq Siddiqui as Ombudsman for Srinagar and Ganderbal districts.

In pursuance of Government Order No. 61-JK (RD&PR) of 2026 dated February 26, 2026, Siddiqui has been assigned the districts of Srinagar and Ganderbal, including the constituency of the Chief Minister.

A former senior KAS officer, Siddiqui brings over three decades of administrative experience in the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. During his service career, he held several key positions in administration, planning and development.

His major assignments included Additional Secretary to Government, Chief Executive Officer of Gulmarg Development Authority, Joint Director in the Information Department, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Assistant Commissioner (Settlement), Assistant Commissioner (Development), Deputy Director (Social Welfare and Planning), and Project Director of the Governor’s Grievance Cell.

In these roles, Siddiqui played an important part in strengthening grievance redressal systems, promoting administrative accountability and improving governance delivery mechanisms.

He has also been associated with several World Bank–funded development projects, contributing to planning, monitoring and evaluation, financial oversight, land records modernization and inter-departmental coordination.

Siddiqui has received advanced professional training in Management Information Systems and Data Monitoring and Evaluation from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom. He also underwent specialized training with the Department of Space in Hyderabad, strengthening his expertise in technology-driven governance and evidence-based policy formulation.

Recognized for his integrity and professional commitment, Siddiqui was earlier conferred the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Honesty, Integrity and Meritorious Public Service by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said his appointment as Ombudsman is expected to further strengthen transparency, fairness and effective grievance redressal mechanisms in the assigned districts.
