Construction of 5,889km of Narmada canal network still remainingAs much as 5,889.91 kilometres of Narmada canal network is still remaining as of Jan 31, 2026, the govt said in the assembly. In reply to a question by MLA Amit Chavda, the govt said that construction of the entire 432km-long main canal is complete, 35.7km of branch canal network work remains, 157.89km of sub-branch canal work remains, and 5,696.32km of minor canal work remains.In two years, 89 complaints of fake farmer certificates in Ahmedabad, 85 in Gandhinagar In reply to a question by Congress MLA Amit Chavda in the assembly, the govt said that in the past two years ending Jan 31, 2026, there have been 89 complaints in Ahmedabad and 85 instances in Gandhinagar where persons have acquired agricultural land based on fake documents. The govt said that all complaints have been investigated and action has been taken in 24 cases in Gandhinagar and 28 cases in Ahmedabad.Eight arrested in Tadkeshwar tank collapse The state govt informed the assembly on Tuesday that eight persons have been arrested in the case where a newly constructed water tank collapsed in Surat’s Tadkeshwar village in Jan this year. The information was provided in separate questions asked by Congress MLAs Tushar Chaudhary, Shailesh Parmar, and Jignesh Mevani.
