Kanpur: Additional Sessions Judge Court Number XXII, Kanpur Nagar, on Thursday dismissed the bail application of imposter Sanjay Kumar.According to prosecution, accused, disguised as a policeman, used to cheat people in the name of providing them job. Anwarganj police arrested him on Feb 17. Additional district govt counsel Omendra Dixit said that crime branch of DCP and Anwarganj police got a tip that a person wearing police uniform cheats people by giving false promises. A police party nabbed him while he was driving a car bearing registration number of Lucknow and equipped with a plate depicting Joint Commissioner of Income Tax Central Range Lucknow. The accused claimed to be one Sanjay Kumar. However, he failed to respond on being asked about his deployment.The accused in his bail application had pleaded that he was innocent and was fabricated by the police. The presiding judge, after going through the evidence on record, dismissed the bail application.
