Mysuru: Karnata Abhijata Kannada Kendra Mysuru and Abhiruchi Prakashana organised a book release programme in Mysuru on Saturday, where five books on Kannada language, literature and history were released.Kannada Development Authority chairman Purushottama Bilimale inaugurated the programme. Kannada writer TV Venkatachala Shastri released the books, and writer Hampa Nagarajaiah presided over the event. Historian Vasundhara Filliozat attended as the chief guest. Arya Sundaram, Manish Maheshwari and publisher Abhiruchi Ganesh were also present.The guests stressed the importance of preserving Kannada language, literature and history through research and publications.

They said greater efforts are needed to promote research in classical Kannada and make it accessible to the next generations.Recalling the journey of Kannada being recognised as a classical language, Venkatachala Shastri highlighted the need to strengthen Kannada studies in universities. He also emphasised documenting Karnataka‘s historical monuments and cultural heritage.The speakers appreciated the efforts of the authors, researchers and publishers in bringing out the five books, saying they would benefit students, researchers and readers interested in Kannada studies.The books released were Kannada Pandita Parampare by various authors, Nalacharitre by Dr Geetha Naval, Chudaratna Sataka by Dr Akkamahadevi, Ramadhanya Charitre by Dr Nagarathnamma, and Saiva Monuments at Pattadakal by Vasundhara Filliozat and Pierre-Sylvain Filliozat.
