NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Sunday at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.Several other parts of the country are also likely to receive heavy rain, while thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds have been forecast over parts of north, east, central, northeast and south India.
IMD alert for Sunday
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.Heavy rain is also likely over Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and Vidarbha.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, West Bengal and Sikkim.Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely over parts of the Northeast and Uttarakhand.
Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow
The IMD has forecast fairly widespread rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, with isolated heavy rain also likely.
North India under rain alert
Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand are likely to remain wet on Sunday.Heavy rain is possible in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, while Uttarakhand may also see thunderstorms and lightning.The IMD has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, with rainfall activity expected to continue over parts of northwest India during the coming days.
Uttar Pradesh and central India forecast
West Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive widespread rainfall, while east Uttar Pradesh may see widespread rain.Heavy rain is also likely over Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.Chhattisgarh and parts of Madhya Pradesh may also see thunderstorms and lightning, while Vidarbha could experience thunderstorms with gusty winds.
Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha weather
Bihar is likely to receive heavy rain on Sunday, with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds also possible.Jharkhand and Odisha may also see heavy rain and thunderstorms, with gusty winds likely over parts of both states.Rainfall activity is expected to remain widespread over Jharkhand and Odisha during the coming days.
Northeast under rain watch
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain on Sunday. Heavy rain is also possible over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.Thunderstorms and lightning are likely across parts of the Northeast, with rainfall activity expected to remain widespread over Arunachal Pradesh and parts of the region through the coming days.
West India forecast
Konkan and Goa are likely to receive widespread rainfall, with heavy rain possible on Sunday.Central Maharashtra and Vidarbha may also see heavy rain, while scattered rainfall is likely over other parts of the region.
South India rain forecast
Coastal Karnataka is likely to see widespread rainfall on Sunday. Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep may also receive widespread rain.Parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana are likely to receive rain.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are possible over parts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

The southwest monsoon is expected to remain active across several parts of the country, with widespread rainfall continuing over parts of north, central, east, northeast, west and south India.

The IMD expects rainfall activity to continue across several parts of the country through August 20.Heavy rain is likely to persist over parts of the hills, Uttar Pradesh, central India, the east and Northeast, while the west coast and several southern regions are also expected to remain wet.Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Sunday, with further heavy rain spells expected in several regions over the following days.
