Agartala: The IMD has forecast significant rainfall across Tripura over the next three days as active monsoon systems influence eastern and northeastern India. The IMD issued an orange warning for West Tripura, Khowai, Dhalai and Gomati for the day, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain at some places. A yellow warning is in place for the remaining districts, indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall.A yellow warning will continue across the state on Thursday. On Friday, heavy rain is expected at isolated places in West Tripura, Khowai, Sepahijala, Gomati and South Tripura. The IMD attributed the conditions to a seasonal trough at mean sea level extending from southwest Rajasthan to northeast Bangladesh, passing through a “pronounced low-pressure area” over northwest Madhya Pradesh and southwest Uttar Pradesh and continuing through north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. An upper air cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam up to 3.1 km above mean sea level is also enhancing moisture over Tripura, leading to widespread rain.In the past 24 hours, Chawmanu in Dhalai recorded 139.2 mm of rainfall, followed by Lembucherra in West Tripura with 105.5 mm. Kumarghat in Unakoti recorded 92 mm, while Kadamtala in North Tripura reported 58 mm.
