Ghaziabad: Residents in areas such as Link Road, Vaishali, Indirapuram, Maharajpur and Vasundhara have complained about unregistered tractor-trolleys, citing road safety violations, encroachment and traffic jams. They urged the regional transport officer (RTO) and traffic officials to ensure strict enforcement of rules governing such vehicles.“The operation of tractor-trolleys without number plates has become a common sight on the city’s roads. This situation is not only leading to traffic congestion but also posing serious safety risks for pedestrians and other road users,” Sunil Vaidya, a social activist from Vaishali, who has written to the RTO and traffic police on the matter, said.He also said that commuters are scared to use these roads because the unchecked movement of these vehicles is making the areas dangerous and prone to accidents.Residents have raised serious concerns about unmarked tractor trolleys. These vehicles are impossible to identify after an accident and could be used for crime. They are also major traffic hazards, as they often lack basic safety features like taillights and reflectors, increasing the risk of nighttime accidents. The ongoing construction in areas like Vaishali and Indirapuram has made the problem worse. These tractor trolleys, used for hauling debris, occupy large portions of the road. Their slow movement and tendency to block lanes are causing severe and frequent traffic jams for commuters. While the local transport and traffic authorities have been urged to enhance enforcement and oversight, action on the issue is awaited. Residents hope for strict measures that will lead to safer roads and a reduction in traffic-related incidents.
